Cesab Helps Simarco Achieve Cleaner, Quieter Operations

A global logistics and freight forwarding business has achieved cleaner, quieter and more economical operations at its Essex head office and freight centre, thanks to Cesab and DFL Liftrucs.

Five Cesab B418 electric forklifts are helping Simarco, a member of the award winning Palletforce network, to reduce its carbon footprint at its Witham site. The family owned, ISO 90001, ISO 14001 and AEO accredited company, chose the four-wheel counterbalanced trucks as part of an on-going commitment to reducing carbon emissions and investing in alternative fuels.

Supplied by Cesab dealership DFL Liftrucs, the new electric trucks offer a mix of manoeuvrability and high performance at the site, where intensive operations during peak delivery and despatch periods make reliability a necessity.

The performance of the Cesab B400 range is complemented by a compact design which, thanks to a shorter chassis and smaller steering tyres, means all the trucks in the range, including the B418, offer exceptional manoeuvrability even in narrow spaces.

Simarco’s General Manager, Gary Thurlow said: “We wanted not only a cleaner fuel source for our forklift fleet but also a reduction in noise pollution. The Cesab B418s have delivered on both of these requirements, are more economic to operate and have removed exhaust pollution from our warehouse, which is significantly better for the protection of customers’ stored goods.

“The move away from fossil fuels with our materials handling fleet at Witham means we’re reducing our carbon footprint, have removed the need for fuel to be delivered to site and for fuel to be stored on site, which is also much safer.

“The costs involved in recharging the Cesab forklift batteries are a fraction of those for diesel or LP gas, the service intervals for these trucks are longer, and routine maintenance costs are lower, so our choice is also a highly economical one.

“We have worked with DFL for over eight years and have great confidence in their service and support. The team is local and accessible, with a depth of experience and product knowledge and we know that their recommendations are based on this expertise and their understanding of our market. We’re more than happy with the choice we’ve made.”

DFL Liftrucs director Paul Gillard said: “We’ve been a Cesab dealership for several years, which gives us the capability to offer customers strong local knowledge, tailored relationships and a high quality, European manufactured range of materials handling equipment. We’re delighted that the Cesab B400 electric range is making a significant difference to operations at Simarco and helping their business deliver on its sustainability goals.”
